Love the Skin You're In

"Do your own work well, then you will have something to be proud of. But don't compare yourself with others." Galatians 6:4 (CEV)

What do you notice about all the women in the picture? The first thing I notice is that not one of them looks the same! They are all different shapes, sizes and heights yet they all weigh the same amount...

So how then do we fall into the trap of comparison? We look to left, we look to the right and then we look in the mirror. We don't ask God to tell us what He sees or ask Him what He created. We skip his opinion and start forming our own. We stand there and look at ourselves in the mirror and let the words of others and the enemy seep into our brains and define how we see ourselves. We start thinking about the other people we saw and how "perfect" they are and we let the self doubt take over. We decide we are not good enough the way we are.

"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." Psalm 139:14

God makes no mistakes. Just as wonderfully as He created the earth and skies, He created you and I. And just as beautiful as is a beach in Hawaii are the mountains in the Swiss Alps. No two places have to be identical to be beautiful. It is in their differences that each place can be appreciated and not taken for granted as just the same old same old.

You are beautiful just the way you are! It does not matter if you are skinny, over weight, short or tall, dark skin or light skin, red head or blonde. It doesn't matter if you have pimples or scars. No matter what you think. God still sees you as beautiful.

You have to stop looking around at everyone else and then looking back inward and wishing you were something you are not. Instead I challenge you to take it to God first. Next time you find yourself comparing yourself to someone else, as k God what He thinks about you. Read God's word and let Him, as the one who created you, be the one to tell you who you really are!
